LAOAG CITY—The Laoag City General Hospital (LCGH) and the Laoag City public market will soon have their “new look” as the said buildings will soon be repainted courtesy of the Pacific Paint (BOYSEN) Philippines.

On August 13, 2025, the city government of Laoag, represented by Mayor James Bryan Alcid and the BOYSEN Philippines represented by its area manager Joey Chan conducted the ceremonial memorandum of agreement signing for the free painting of the LCGH and LC Public Market.

Alcid expressed his “heartfelt thanks” to Boysen Philippines for this “very rare opportunity because it saved lots of money from the city coffer for the beautification of these two public edifices and the money saved will go to other social services”.

However, the mayor said that there is no specific date yet as to when the project will start and that it will depends on the weather condition considering that it is still the rainy season.

The mayor assured that there will be no problem with the vendors at the market as nobody will be affected because the painting will be in front of the market and likewise with LCGH.

The proposed color at the market would be white and earth tone colors while the LCGH will be pure white.

“This also proves that the earlier rumor of transferring the market is not true, instead, the city government is improving and making it better for the people of Laoag”, the mayor said.

In behalf of the Boysen Philippines, Chan likewise announced their full support to the city government of Laoag as a proof of the painting the LCGH and the LC Public Market façade for free.

Chan said Boysen Philippines will all provide the materials and skilled laborers. In short, it will be a complete package without any counterpart from the city government saying that the project will be done with quality, efficiency and care. (Dominic B. dela Cruz)
